Why Nigerian Banks Need Online Shopping Cart

There is an urgent need for e-commerce websites in Nigeria since the country is venturing into cashless money system. Having an ecommerce shopping website where customers will put in their credit card details and purchase goods online. If there is a perfect system like this as it is attainable in the developed countries, business will be smooth and shopping will also be enjoyable.

Imagine staying in your house and log on to Shoprite or Pack ‘n’ Shop website and make purchase with your MasterCard or Visa card and the goods will be delivered to your door step. What a lovely day it will be in Nigeria. I am not talking of using Interswitch to transfer money from your ATM. This method is still local and need refining to work smoothly.

The absent of a Nigerian Shopping Cart like PayPal, 2Checkout, Plimus, etc is a big challenge that the financial institutions in this country should do everything to bring to reality. Not one payment processor that will be accepted by only GTBank and another one that will be accepted by First Bank only.

We need a payment processor that every bank in Nigeria will accept. Think of a situation where you have a shopping cart or ecommerce website where all your goods and services are sold online and a customer log into your site with a credit card and make payment and the money is reflected in your bank account in a matter of seconds. This is what I am talking about.

This is what I need for my country because it will make internet marketing easier for everyone. A situation where I created an e-commerce shopping cart website that sell e-books and I linked every product to 2Checkout payment processor. People all over the world will go there to buy my books and 2Checkout will collect the money and send it to me here in Nigeria after deducting there commission.

This is good but not good enough for the average Nigerian who may not be able to purchase my books online through the method I just explained. And not all Nigerians can integrate these foreign payment processors into their website. But a situation when they know that the money will be credited to their bank account instantly and an alert is sent to them, they will easily jump to grab such opportunity.

Online shopping cart if integrated into our banking system will mean more money for the banks and easy online business transaction for businesses and ecommerce web developers. The truth is that we need ecommerce shopping cart system in this nation for internet business to thrive. E-commerce in Nigeria will bring hope for web marketers.
